The Joyetech EX series coils are capable of both mouth to lung (MTL) and direct lung (DL) vaping. The 0.5Ω has a larger air port and larger wicking holes for a Direct Lung style vaping, whereas the 1.2Ω version is more air flow restricted and has smaller wicking holes. So please keep that in mind when choosing your coils.
The Joyetech EX series coils come in many versions:
- EX-M at 0.4 Ω mesh (Restricted Direct Lung)
- EX coil at 0.5 Ω (Gold color - Direct Lung - rated at 20 to 25W)
- EX coil at 1.2 Ω (Silver color - Mouth To Lung - rated at 8 to 14W)
With the release of the Joyetech Exceed Grip - Joyetech introduced a new EX coil; the EX-M at 0.4 Ω with a mesh coil.

At VapeShop we found the 0.5Ω coil to be a bit longer lasting than the 1.2Ω version, and can also be used for MTL vaping as long as you can restrict the tank airflow.
